
Andrew Walen, LCSW-C

Mr. Walen received his master’s degree in social work from the University of Tennessee College of Social Work – Nashville in 2006.
His clinical work includes an internship at The Ranch, an addictions and eating disorders in-patient treatment center in Nunnely, TN, and two years in community mental health centers in both Tennessee and Maryland.
While in Tennessee, he worked with the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee as a volunteer and trained to address children, parents, educators and health professionals about issues related to eating disorders, dieting, nutrition, and body image through their Speakers Bureau program. In addition, he provided programming on Body Image and Eating Disorders to middle and high school students throughout the Middle Tennessee region through the Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee.
Mr. Walen created The Body Image Therapy Center in 2008, specializing in eating disorders, emotional eating, body image, and preparation and aftercare for bariatric surgery patients. He has authored articles which have appeared in www.Dietwatch.com, www.GoodTherapy.org, and presented “A Treatment Model for Body Image Disorder” at the 93rd Annual Tennessee Conference on Social Welfare in April 2006. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Binge Eating Disorder Association and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Eating Disorders Network of Maryland, National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) and Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD).
Beth comes to The Body Image Therapy Center with experience
as an occupational therapist focusing on mental health and eating disorders. After earning her bachelors degree in health
science at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, she continued her schooling in
the occupational therapy program where she received her master’s degree. She became a registered and licensed
occupational therapist in the state of Maryland in the winter of 2008. Along with her private practice with The Body Image Therapy Center, Beth works at Johns Hopkins Hospital in their Eating Disorders Unit. As an eating disorders occupational therapist, Beth focuses on helping clients develop and implement functional coping strategies including goal setting, meal preparations, grocery shopping,
restaurant sessions, and managing triggers in everyday life.
